Food for thought …

There is not local supermarket open all day, full of every type of food you could wish for, nor is there the money to buy it even if it existed, BUT there might be a small, hungry plot of land around your home, which, if you have the tools and seeds, you may be successful in growing vegetables and maize to feed your family with.

This is the reality for many of the families we meet while visiting the villages where CHI has links. The churches work hard to bring groups together, educate them on kitchen garden techniques, and supply them with the means to be successful in their endeavours.
The ‘means’ is where you come in! We cannot ensure they get rain when they need it, but with your donations CHI can ensure they receive viable seeds, which will give a strong crop and be suitable for seed saving. Through the church, CHI can supply the tools and means to save water during the dry season, enabling families to feed their families year round and hopefully have some spare crops to trade at market.

With your help we could also supply more goats, hens and pigs to give the fertiliser necessary to keep the soil productive - in Africa they have 3 growing seasons compared to our one! The soil soon becomes depleted, so the added bonus of a pig, goat or hens to give manure really adds a gold star benefit.

Visit our gift shop - maybe a brood of chickens in Africa would be the perfect, non-clutter gift for that special birthday or even, dare I say it Christmas!
We thank all our supporters for the gifts of livestock and agricultural tools and seeds , which we have been able to supply to families already this year.
