NEWS UPDATE - OCTOBER 2026
CHILDREN ARE THE FUTURE
Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him.
Psalm 127:3

MISANVU YOUTH CAMP - AUGUST 26 Rev Canon Patrick, who was moved to Misanvu Parish earlier this year, decided to run his own youth camp for children in his archdeaconry which included the sponsored children from Kijjabwemi. We received this testimony from Patrick:-
“We give glory to God for sustaining us with our youth whom attended the conference. A total number of 527 youth participated and 162 committed their lives to Christ. We we able to give out the 200 Bibles you donated to us, this registered a great milestone for our Ministry in Misanvu. Thank you very much our lovely family.
We only had some few challenges like lack of enough water supply since its real drought in Uganda now 3 months!! This strained our budget and we remained with a deficit of 2,371,200 (£460) = for the food we procured to have the conference successful. I have all the trust that God will provide for us to clear that debt.”
The children learnt how to make anti-bacterial liquid soap and fire briquettes, as well as learning best practice for growing food in a small garden space. The skills learned at the camp could all be used to help the young people earn a small income if necessary.

Ronald (UGA120) wrote “I was taught to make charcoal and I am ready to start up a business in order to earn income and if I get money and my business become successful, I will be able to help those who are in need”.

BACK TO SCHOOL FOR THE KOP KIDS!

In Rwanda and Uganda, the children are back in school – or at least those who are fortunate enough to be able to pay the fees and buy their uniforms and school requirements will be. Others will be going into schools, without the necessary materials, and hoping that by God’s grace their fees will miraculously materialise, and even if they don’t, the chances are they will have managed another week or two in school. All those ‘occasional’ weeks will hopefully add up to a basic education, which for some is the very most they will ever get. Without an education, the cycle of poverty continues, and this is why, for CHI, child sponsorship is so important.
The smiles on the faces of the children in the UGA (Kijjabwemi) sponsorship program says it all as they stand proudly in their new uniforms laden with books, pens, toothpaste, and soap. In Gasabo the children going off to boarding school for their secondary education were blessed to be given mattresses too. If you have ever considered sponsorship, but not yet taken the plunge, you may be interested in our latest sponsorship projects where, because the children are all in one government-aided, but church-owned school and close to the diocesan office, then the monthly cost would be £10 to cover all that they need. Do check out this page on the website Child Sponsorship | Christian Hope International, if you might be interested, or call the office and have a chat!
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT AND PRAYER
(AND FOR READING THIS FAR!)
