FEBRUARY 26

CHANGES AFOOT ALL ROUND

Rev Canon Patrick - one of our longest standing partners in Uganda has been moved to another parish. We are grateful the parish in question is called Misanvu and is not another beginning with K, and that it is not too far from Kijjabwemi, so that Patrick can continue to oversee the sponsorship programme which operates there. He has been moved from a newly built house to a very dilapidated pastor’s house - so in need of renovation that he has had to move his family of 7 to rented accommodation for now!

Misanvu has a fine church though! The congregation has a majority of under 30s who are very keen to support new ventures. The biggest challenges that Patrick has identified so far in the parish is lack of safe water for the school and church and a lack of bibles and hymn books for the church.

Please keep Patrick and his new parish in your prayers.

Pastor Raymond in Kigali, Rwanda - CHI were blessed with generous donations from you, our supporters, after the article last July about prison ministry. As a result CHI were able to donate money for 120 new bibles, hygiene materials for female prisoners, and plastic chairs for use during the services - especially useful for the elderly prisoners, enabling them to attend the services in comfort, as they no longer have to sit on the ground.

Also donated were funds for a shared meal after the annual confirmation and Holy communion service, which provides a pathway for ongoing care and ministry of the most vulnerable inmates, fostering a bond between inmates, prison staff and the Anglican church, supporting spiritual mentorship, trauma care and reintegration planning.

Meanwhile at CHI HQ, in a bid to save money on currency transactions, it has been decided that payments to the projects in Africa will be made 4 times a year instead of 6. This coincides perfectly with termly school fees, and will hopefully make administration easier for the projects. As a result the gifts for children will also be sent quarterly, so sponsors please note that cards, letters and financial gifts (including by bank transfer) for your children should arrive in the office by the 15th of February, May, August and November. If they miss the deadlines they will be kept until the following posting. Financial gifts given by standing order with the sponsorship will automatically be included.
