In term time Yvette is, when funds permit, a boarder at the Gahima Agape School. In the school holidays she returns to her small rented home to live with her mother and 2 brothers. Sadly her father died in an accident.
Her mother tries to find casual farm work where she can but struggles to support the very basic needs of the family. As a result Yvette missed a lot of school last year as she could not afford the fees. She finds this very difficult to deal with as she hopes to become a doctor one day.
