The Stitches of Hope project started life under the name of "Baby Aid" as, in the early days, nearly all of the knitted goods we sent out to Africa were for new-born babies.
The name change came about because we are no longer asking people to knit only babies clothes, but a wider range of knitted clothing for new-born babies and older children.
Here at Hope House, we receive hundreds of packages of hand-knitted goods every month and whenever one of the staff goes out to speak, you can almost guarantee one of the "audience" will pass on one or more items they have carefully prepared for children overseas.
Please click on the boxes down the left-hand side of the screen to take a look at some of the items we have received and at some of our knitters.
People have asked me recently if we still collect 12 months of the year or only at set times. Here at CHI we receive knitted items ALL YEAR ROUND. If you would like to bring your knitting to us here at the CHI office please do - we are open most days from 9am to 5pm.
It is a good idea to ring in advance just in case the office is closed as we are sometimes called away out speaking at local churches and groups.
Please click on the "Patterns" box to order a pattern or to download one to print it yourself.
Unfortunately, sending even these beautiful items overseas costs money. We realise that you have already borne the cost of the wool to make the items and many of you will have posted the knitting to us.
However, if you are able to send a small contribution towards the cost of transporting the goods to Africa and India it would be appreciated. Most importantly though is to "keep on Knitting"!
