Educating the young, is vital.
Unfortunately, the equipment at the School and the high quality of the education we receive in the United Kingdom are not necessarily available everywhere.
Why not purchase one or more packs of pens and pencils, or a uniform for school children in Africa or India? This can make such a difference to a child.
Add a pack of pens, pencils, rubbers and rulers for school children in Africa or India, costs £5.00

What better gift to give someone than the Word of God?
To our surprise in our recent visit to Africa (March 2009) we were asked exclusively for Bibles in English.
This is because Rwanda is moving from a French education system to an English curriculum. This being the case, we bought 72 hard back Bibles in Kampala and distributed them in Byumba diocese, Kigali Diocese and Kigemi Diocese.
Now you can give a gift of a Bible to an adult or child you may never meet, until that day in Heaven when they come up to you and thank you for a wonderful gift that made such a difference in their lives.
Purchase an adult Bible for £10
Purchase a child's Bible for £10
During our recent trip to Rwanda (March 2009) we visited the clinic at Kimwanyi Health Centre where we are sending the funding for mosquito nets and treatments. They informed us that during the past 12 months around 80% of all cased treated in the clinic were malaria related! We left 4 nets with the clinic and $400 for new nets and medication. Thank you! Just look at these statistics: A report from the World Health Organization gave the following estimates for 2006:
Through our contacts in Uganda we know that we can provide treatment for malaria for a child or adult for around £5. Prevention is better than cure and so we can also provide treated mosquito nets for just £10. The treatment would be provided through Kimwanyi Health Centre which is church founded and managed. |
A DVD outlining the problems and dangers of malaria is now available free of charge from Christian Hope International. To order give the office a ring on |
Malaria medication:
Donate the sum of £5 for treatment and a mosquito net (you can purchase more than a single net by increasing the number required).
Mosquito Net:
Donate the sum of £10 to purchase medication to treat malaria for a child or adult.

Many of the schools in Africa and Asia have few, if any facilities. We have seen schools that don't have blackboards, don't have desks, have little or no writing paper and where pencils and pens are like gold dust.
Christian Hope International works in Africa and India, helping schools provide a basic education to children who otherwise would receive none.
If you would like to help a school, please donate to our school fund, thereby allowing us to improve the facilities that in many places are almost non-existent.
Pick the amount you wish to donate by clicking on the appropriate button below.

Christian Hope International (formally Containers of Hope) has sent around 70 containers overseas since the Mission was born in 1994.
Currently it costs around £6,000 to send a container overseas. This includes the purchase of the container itself (these always stay at the destination) and the Transport to the destination, nearly always Africa.
We have calculated that £20 will send a container around 30km nearer its destination.

Chickens give eggs!
Even young children in the UK (who may only have seen chickens roasted on the table or frozen chickens in the cabinets at Tescos) know that.
But most people are unaware that there are other benefits of keeping chickens - apart from the early morning wake-up call....
Chickens - even fed on scraps - produce a height quality compost. Whilst this may be considered messy in the UK - in Rwanda it is a significant benefit for families whose meager plot of land is farmed all year round.
Revd. John Wesley (no direct relation to "the" JW) is the project director for the Diocese of Shyogwe in Rwanda. John oversees the funding sent by Christian Hope International for the purchase and distribution of egg-laying hens to families in the area.
John sent us the photos on the right showing the hens for distribution and the recent "egg-laying hen distribution and training day".
If you would like to support this project click on the box below and fill in your details.
(I think the egg-laying hens are Rhode Island Reds)

Goats in Africa look like real goats. confusingly African sheep also look like goats......
There is a difference though; goats are easier to keep and will eat any and everything (including clothing on a washing line, old shoes, etc.)
The price of goats in Africa has gone up considerably over the past years, and the drop in Sterling value (the UK pound) has further driven up the price. The high price also reflects the fact that we ensure that the goats we pass on have been properly inoculated.
However, goats are very important to many families in Africa, providing milk for the family and goodness for the crops.
To own a goat is vital to so many who live entirely off the land.
The goats are simple to look after, but to a family living on the bread line, it is almost impossible to purchase and own one.
Your gift will be sent to St. Peters College to enable them to select and then provide a goat to a needy family.
Donate £30 to provide a goat.

We take water for granted in the U.K. and are quick to complain if our water is less than 100% clean and (reasonably) drinkable.
We turn on the tap and we expect it to flow.
In so many countries of the world obtaining clean water is difficult, if not almost impossible.
None of us would like to have to walk a mile or two to fill up a jerry can of water - which we would then have to carry back to our home weighing 50lbs. - not once, not twice but perhaps three times a day.
Clean safe water must be made available to everyone and especially to children if they are to remain healthy.
At Christian Hope International we have already provided running water to many villages in India, Ghana and Mozambique.
Filtration equipment has also been supplied to families in Rwanda to purify dirty water.
We would like to help install more wells in India like the ones shown in the photos. To do that we need YOUR help.
Help us provide clean water in India for only £60.00

When my wife and I were younger (a long time ago...) she made our daughters’ clothing.
Now of course, it costs much more to make clothing for children than to buy - and who has the time these days?
This is not the case in the "less developed" world.
A sewing machine is essential in Africa or India for either making or mending clothes.
In India, Rwanda, Burundi or Ghana, Christian Hope International supports groups who teach the art of dressmaking.
Many girls go on to use their skills to earn an income in adult life.
Whilst we send sewing machines out in our containers, it is both cheaper and quicker to purchase new machines in either Africa or India.
Why not help us supply a new sewing machine for a young lady and give her an opportunity to learn a skill for life?
Donate £25 towards enabling us to supply a machine in Africa or India

One of the biggest differences between Children growing up in Africa and in the UK is the education they can expect to receive.
Here in the UK, education up to the age of 16 is free and compulsory. Even college and A’Level studies are free.
In many countries in Central Africa, primary level education is generally free - but the far more expensive secondary level is not. This is a major reason children do not continue studies and receive a school leavers certificate.
A second reason is that primary level education which many start at 6 or 7 years old might not finish until the child is in his or her middle teens. Whilst visiting Uganda we were introduced to teenagers who were still at Primary School at the age of 17.
Christian Vision Uganda (CVU), a Uganda registered charity, realised that there was an urgent need to help children who could not go on to secondary education, especially those orphaned.
The vision was to create a Vocational Centre where practical skills could be taught, enabling young people to learn a profession.
Revd. Jackson Kasozi (a former Christian Hope International trustee) heads up CVU and is overseeing the construction of the centre.
The building work started in May 2008 and since that time the foundations have been dug down and then built up (this is often the way with foundations in Africa) and the internal floors brought up to foundation level.
There are already 10,000 bricks on site awaiting funding to begin raising up the walls.
_____________________
In partnership with Christian Vision Uganda, Christian Hope International want to help fund the construction and equipping of this Vocational Centre.
This is not a small project and it will cost a lot of money - but I believe it is possible!
Already, Christian Vision Uganda working with Christians in Uganda and the UK has raised over £25,000 which has been used to fund the foundations, purchase of bricks and other construction materials.
______________________
We want to help CVU finance the construction phase, then, as funds allow, we will further assist by sending a container of equipment to Kibaale from our warehouse.

During a visit to India in 2007, the plight of a number of blind people was brought to the notice of Christian Hope International.
At that time, the houses they were living in leaked when it rained and were cold especially at night. They had no cooking or toilet facilities, nowhere to store their few personal belongings, etc.
Through funding sent by Christian Hope International working with Paul Rajan (our contact in India) we were able to provide a number of blind people with two brick built houses, large enough for them to live in with all of the normal facilities like a toilet, a kitchen and water.
Whilst these homes are now open - we have received requests for other similar projects to raise the standard of living for blind people in India.
If you would like to contribute to further projects please click below and we will use the gift towards future work among the blind or disadvantaged people in India.

Banana Fibre Cards:In Africa, Mother's Union Groups, church groups and co-operative workers make cards from the bark of the banana tree.
These cards are then sold on to visitors to help finance other projects in the area or diocese.
It can take a person up to 3 years to learn the art of making these cards, and each card is individual and a work of art in its own right.
We sell cards singly at £1.00 each or in packs of 3 together with envelopes for the sum of £2.50.
In order to cover our costs, we can only sell cards on line with minimum order of £5. This means we will send you two packs of 3 cards for £5..
When ordering please state how many lots of £5 you require.
