A to Z of sponsoring a child or young adult
What difference does a sponsor make?
- A Child Sponsor is a person or group contributing the equivalent of £15.00 per month to towards the education of a child or young person.
- All the children on our Ray of Hope Program have all been recommended to us by the local School, the local Parish (who are aware of the family's finances) or by the diocese which is responsible for managing the church schools.
- The £15 you donate will enable us to support the child through Primary School education.
- At secondary level, your £15 will make a serious contribution towards paying the much higher school fees. Secondary level education is much more expensive as it may also include board and lodging as the vast bulk of secondary schools are residential.
- The vast majority of our sponsored children are in church managed schools where the spiritual life of the child is monitored.
As a sponsor, you will receive through CHI:
- A photo and history of your child
- Correspondence from your child about twice a year
- As an interested and caring Christian, the love you show through your correspondence will hopefully point the child or young person towards Jesus.
How do you become a sponsor?
- On the left of this page is a list of countries where we support children.
- Choose a country
- The page that comes up will explain something of the sponsorship in that country.
- If there is more than one group, the next page will introduce you to the children on the program in that area.
- Take a look at the details and photos of the children who are on our "children seeking sponsors" waiting list..
- Select a child you would like to sponsor
- Click on the "Select this child" button
- Fill in your details on the form
- Click the "send details" button
- We will receive your details and send you a letter of confirmation
We will then send you a photo of your sponsored child along with any further details including (when they are finished) a DVD introducing some of the children already on the program in that area.
We will then forward you (as they come in) letters, photos and updates from the school for your sponsored child.
