School history:

The school at Kijjabwemi (situated in the south east district of Masaka in Uganda) was founded and run by the Church though staff are paid by the government.
There are 16 teachers and 7 classrooms at the school for 580 pupils with ages from 7 to 18. Class sizes average 83 pupils (UK class average is 24 pupils).

Teaching is mainly in English with Luganda as a second language. The Christian faith is clearly on the curriculum.

Project outline:

We wanted to assist the school to put several disussed and damaged classrooms back into use. Around £4,000 was sent for Phase I and towards the of of 2009 an additional £3,000 was sent for Phase II.

The work is now finished!

There is a photo below showing the "before" and "After". The roofs have now been treeted and the walls painted.

If you were involved in financing Phase I or Phase II (or both) do get in touch and we will send you some laminated photos of the work.

Kijjabwemi container

The container safely arrived at the Church and School just before Christmas. We were delighted that the goods we had put in the container all seemed to be present.

Click here to see some of the photos of the children wearing T-shirts from Leukaemia Research at their party. We will add more photos as they come in.

Thank you!
