SCHOOLS TWINNING PROJECT

We have been asked by a number of schools in the UK if we can organise twinning with schools in
Africa and elsewhere. This we are happy to do.

What we are planning is the facility to enable schools in the UK to correspond with, perhaps assist
financially or ‘in kind’ and even arrange exchange visits between schools.

Some of the ideas that have been put forward include:

  • Children writing to children,

  • Photographs of the schools and surrounding areas, to enable children to understand
each other better. Perhaps even videos where appropriate.

  • Teachers corresponding with teachers, it is hoped that each will get a better
    understanding of each others problems.

If enough schools in the UK show interest, then we are willing to set up a register of
schools both here and overseas. This will enable us to introduce schools of a similar
set up to each other.

We already have a number of schools in Africa, who may be willing to twin with the
schools in the UK.

Three schools in Rwanda are seeking twinning partners here in the UK.

  • The Agri school from Shyogwe would like to twin with a senior school, perhaps a
sixth form college. The school teaches normal academic subjects plus a range of
specialist farming and agricultural subjects. Both boys and girls attend this school.

  • Gikonko School is the equivalent to one of our secondary schools and is also
looking to twin with a similar school here in the UK. Both boys and girls attend
    Gikonko School.

  • The Martyr School, Kigali is a new school and would like to twin with a similar
school here in the UK. It is a senior school which is run by the Anglican Church
and has only been in operation for about a year. It teaches both boys and girls
and would love to build up its English Library.

IF YOU KNOW OF A SCHOOL THAT MAY BE INTERESTED IN BEING TWINNED
WITH A SCHOOL IN AFRICA, PLEASE CONTACT US ON 01708 377795.
