How can you use a Will to help Christian Hope international?

When you make your Will, you will obviously think first about your family and friends. However, you could also make a gift to Christian Hope International that could be used in one of several ways:

To help finance (or possibly complete) an existing project.
To assist CHI in meeting its administrative costs and responsibilities.
To help vulnerable people in a particular area in which CHI works.
To help secure the long-term education for one or more children through our Ray of Hope project.
To contribute funds towards the costs of shipping valuable aid materials to Africa or India.

You can decide how you want your gift to be used and whatever your decision, it will make a real difference to those in need.

How do you make a Will?

A Will is a legal document that enables you to decide where you want your money and possessions to go. Making one is usually very straightforward. The first step is to decide what you want to leave to everybody. You then need to collect together the information that will be needed to make the Will including the name and contact details of your executor(s). Once this has been decided, you could contact a solicitor or use one of the telephone or internet Will writing specialists to provide guidance to the correct wording. What if I already have a Will?

If you already have a WILL then all that is needed is a "CODICIL" (an addition to your existing WILL) that directs your EXECUTOR (the person you have named in your will as responsible for carrying out your wishes) to make a gift of money or a particular possession to Christian Hope International. What happens if I don’t have a Will?

If you die without making a will, this could result in your estate not going where you would have wished. For instance, your husband or wife may not automatically receive all of your estate.

Who should write my Will?

Using a practicing solicitor is by far the best way to ensure your Will is legally correct and that your wishes will be followed. It is also possible to obtain expert advice over the phone or through the internet.

Can a gift to charity help me pay less tax?

The money and assets left in your estate may be subject to inheritance tax. It may be of advantage to divide your estate so that your family and friends are left gifts below the tax threshold and so do not have to pay for inheritance tax. The remainder can then be shared between as many charities as you choose, since charities are exempt from paying this tax.
